Local History

This photo is from a collection of historical photo post cards made from 50 to 100 years ago. Some were sold commercially, but most are original and unique.

Early on, when film was processed, it was common to get your photos back as postcards. Some were actually sent, some never were used in the mail, simply kept as we keep snapshots today.

Most cards in this collection are photos taken in north Tillamook County. In some cases you will recognize the setting, but some of the places, buildings - even rock landmarks - are gone forever.

Especially interesting are the details: people's faces and clothing, transportation - cars, horses and wagons, architectural details on buildings, houses (or lack of them) in the background.

So please take a moment to look at the cards. You may even recognize your own house or favorite beach spot.
