It's a hard beach at low tide and a great run on the beautiful Oregon Coast!
The Course
A
strand of clean, hard-packed sand 100 yards wide stretches from the
cliffs of Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain to the Nehalem River. Cape Lookout to
the south and Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain to the north provide inspiring
vistas going down and coming back.
The
10k run, which is entirely on the beach, begins at the base of Laneda
Avenue in Manzanita and proceeds 3.1 miles (5k) south towards the
jetty, then returns to the starting point, for a total of 6.2 miles
(10k).
The
5k walk and 5k run start at the same point and proceed 1.55 miles down
the beach before turning back to the starting point, for a total walk
of 3.1 miles (5k).
Registration
Entry fee for the walk/run is $25. All participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt and a lite picnic lunch with the early entry fee. After July 20 through race day the fee is $30 and includes lunch, but no shirt. T-shirt is $13 extra. Mail-in entries should be received by July 25, 2007.
Participants
may register and pick up race packets the evening prior at
Windermere-Manzanita, located at 467 Laneda in Manzanita, from 4:00 -
7:00 PM. Day of race registration will be held outside Marzano's Pizza
on the corner of Laneda and Carmel, in Manzanita, from 7:30 - 8:30 AM.
Entry fee is non-refundable.
Finale/Awards
Catch your breath with music and refreshments in the Manzanita City Park at 11:00 AM just 6 short blocks south on Carmel, then turn left on Pacific Lane. At this time, finish results will be announced and place ribbons awarded.
Special
awards will be given to first place male and female finishers in the 5k
and 10k runs. A random drawing from all participants will be held for
special prizes donated by local merchants.
Location
Manzanita is just off Highway 101 north of Tillamook and south of Cannon Beach. Take the Manzanita exit and follow Laneda Avenue to the ocean.
